I'm From

I'm From

A Poem by BrotherJackman
"

People always ask, "WHERE are ya from", they never ask, "WHAT are you from". What you go through in life defines you, not where you rest your head at night.

"

I am from stairs with no railing,

and loose foot steps that lead to what can seem like nowhere.

 I am from hardships

and laughs, which all come to end.

I’m from the caring,

and those who need to be cared for,

from those that accept and those that avoid.

I’m from early morning lectures

and late night conversations.

I am from many,

yet I am only one.

I am from everything I hold dear,

and from everything I lost.

I am from somewhere unknown,

and from this place which I am lost.

I am from the bright morning,

but more and more, I feel stuck in the darkness of night.

I am from all of this.

The only thing that matters though, is where I go with it all.
