Deathful LiberationA Story by Brooke<3ReynoldsExtending across the scorching grains of Egypt was a tarnished chain that connected hundreds of thousands of withering souls awaiting their inevitable deaths. Helpless cries were lifted by Satan’s gales. No settlement was within a 200 radius to hear them. Beside the withering souls were ruthless demons gripping onto tightly woven infernos prepared to destruct. The situation seemed insurmountable with its hellish ambiance. Amongst the angst-ridden were a man and a woman who knew nothing of the other’s existence until now. Their jagged hands were joined by the same link of corrosion. The link was so corroded it became easily breakable. They knew of each other’s desires- liberation. Aware that the ‘demons’ acquired an eagle’s sense of sound, they sketched out an escape plan in the sand sub-rosa despite the apparent despondence suffusing over the land. As they were contemplating and sketching in the sand, the ‘demons’ began to develop a suspicion. The man and the woman did not notice the ‘demons’ lingering skepticism and continued to sketch. The ‘demons’ exchanged nods as one of them approached the man and the woman saying, “what are you two up to?” The man said, “We have nothing else to consume our time as we look forward to our deaths besides tracing the sand.” “Well you ought to stop your foolishness or you won’t have anything else to look forward to, mutant.” The ‘demon’ spat on their surreptitious escape plan and pressed and rocked his foot against the sand. The ‘demons’ still did not conclude their suspicion and resumed their positions. With the tarnished link still detachable, the man and the woman timed their escape. Dawn at last was painted across the horizon with utter meticulousness after a sweltering, deathful day. As prisoners began to drift into sleep, so did the ‘demons.’ The ‘demons’ had never even come close to shutting their eyes! This was a miracle delivered from the scintillating heavens. Satan has no match against the man and the woman for all the overseeing ‘demons’ were entirely unconscious. The man and the woman took advantage of the marvelous situation and shattered the cuff with carefulness. Once they became two independent, liberated people, they hurriedly sprinted into the Picasso skylines to wherever God will take them. © 2010 Brooke<3Reynolds |
