Understanding

Understanding

A Poem by Brook
"

A little bit of everything.

"
I thought i understood love, but i didn't.
Not even in the slightest.
You see love is a mixture of things,
and sometimes not the nicest.
Love can fix your broken heart,
or tear it further apart.
It can make you regret feeling the way
you did, and letting them into your heart.
Love can be pain,
and can remove the sunshine from your life,
and bring in the rain.

I thought i understood love, but i didn't.
But i think i'm getting there.
Love can be everlasting,
and fulfilling.
It can give you quite a scare.
You feel things you've never felt before,
and your start to notice little things, like
their hair. How it flicks on the one side in
the wind, and how their lips quiver when
they sing.

I didn't understand love, but now i do.
Love is how i feel about you.

Author's Note

Brook
I feel like one day the person who i write love poems about will break up with me, and these will stop. Then i won't be able to read them, because it'll hurt.

But hey, what can i say? i'm a hopeless romantic.

Nothing wrong being a hopeless romantic. Love does have it's mixed feelings. It can be awesome at time, and there are other times it just brings you pain. I can feel your emotions through this piece. Don't let the past haunt you (trust me, I'm trying not the past bug me as well, but it does catch up with you) and drag you down. My advice for you, and this is coming from my experiences in the past, hang out with the people that put a smile on your face, not the ones who suck your happiness away from you.

It certainly shows (that you're a hopeless romantic). Nicely written.

Nice to see you finding your feet as a romantic poet. I never can write such poetry, and I admire those who can. Beautifully expressed....nice writing, Brookly! :)
