Speak

Speak

We must do more to eradicate the AIDS epidemic!

Speak

I have spoken, am speaking and will continue to speak the word

until everyone has heard my message

that when you use protection

you reduce your risk of catching this or that

and this may not be so bad

but that can be the worst thing you could have

but it's not too late, you can still be saved

from this life altering disease we all know as AIDS

40 million infected worldwide over a million in the States

and I will say that abstinence is the best method of prevention

but we have to educate in other ways for people with intentions

of having sex and encourage them to get tested

and know there status 'cus

truth is 25% of people with HIV don't know they have it

and it is being cloned as they unknowingly pass it along

to people which could include you, me, your friends or family

if the proper precautions aren't taken to prevent this so believe

what I'm telling you because we are grieved

as a nation esp. the black population

because we account for 50% of the 40,000 new cases

diagnosed each year

so as I have spoken, am speaking and will speak,

make sure you listen with open ears I'm telling you 'cus

I care and if I instill fear then so be it

if that's what it will take for you to make

the right decision because so many people take life for granted

but I will go around spreading the word until I'm panting

and out of breath if even one person will allow this knowledge rest

in their minds and think before they act

so please listen intently as I share a few facts

such as intravenous drug using is fueling

the AIDS epidemic in our black communities

which accounts for 43 percent of infections among Black women

and 38 percent among Black men

which is transferred by sharing needles and

during sex when they don't cover the skins

that's why you should talk with your partner before sexual relations begin

and get checked to make sure you're both disease free

but many people don't take heed before spreading their seeds

that's why 62 percent of pediatric Aids cases are diagnosed in black babies

now please listen closely to the following fact,

only 15 percent of the 13-19 year old U.S. population is Black

but they account for over 60 percent of adolescent AIDS cases

come on yall, it's time to get our people on track

to being empowered through the vessel of knowledge because as of now,

one in 50 black men and one in 160 black women is HIV positive

making it the number one killer of black adults ages 25-44

the understanding of the disease in the black community is at an all time low

making infections at an all time high, which means more people die

and it leaves me shaking my head saying my oh my,

wondering what are we to do to show and to prove

that no amount of sex or drug use is worth being eaten inside out

by a disease that most people should already know about

but they don't 'cus of lack of education in our urban communities

and we as a people must learn to embrace unity

and the government needs

to implement more programs that will feed

the truth about this destructive disease

instead of trying placate the victims by assuring them

that new drugs are developed almost everyday

and that everything will be ok

when if they had been given the proper education in the first place

maybe they wouldn't have seen the day

where they would come face to face

with this disease we all know as AIDS

and I hope you have taken something from this message today

and join me in this race in an effort to educate others about

AIDS and once again I say, I have spoken, am speaking and will

continue to speak the word

until my message has been heard.
