Emotions

Emotions

A Poem by Broken words

Emotions, symbolic expressions to prove you’re human. Emotions, nothing more than inconsequential names given to instinctual responses to situations occurring in your life. Emotions: useless, Agony, Self-inflicted wounds, Torture, Devices used to control one’s reactions and responses in a situation, the hearts fire, life’s way of stringing you and tugging at you whenever it chooses. Emotions are nothing more than knifes and different poisons, stabbing you and then telling you after you’re ok, making you feel as if you weren’t just stabbed but in reality the wound has yet to heal.
“I love you” a phrase supposed to have a heartfelt meaning but instead it haunts me night after night. It crawls into my head leaving chaos along with mental wreckage with no coming end in sight. Consequentially if I here this phrase I tell myself shut down turn of the lights, because if one more thing breaks inside this now near empty home of mine I may just lose my mind. “I love you” a phrase never meant to cause pain however be it friend, parent or relative the end result of believing the promises of this phrase has consistently stayed the same: Depression, numbness, followed with thoughts of leaving and never returning to this hostile, grim place again, have become life mottos however they blinded me enough with their promises of “better” so now I call them “friends”.
Emotions, I love how they twist and how they curve how they hurt and how they burn, seemingly good intentioned enough at first, however they always leave me hurt. Dark twisted spirals in the shape of hope, simultaneously whispering and beckoning for you to ask for help followed with “leave me alone”. Anger and sadness, derived from their true meanings bitter and passionless; they spit venom into the eyes of everyone, Blind to titles such as loved ones or enemies, confusing the two resolving with spewing cruel obscenities. Teaching an important lesson, the mind or body is not where emotions were meant to be and that they should be disposed of and felt never again or at least minimally.
Love, anger, sadness, fear, hope, happiness. Terms meant to have meaning and importance but are as useful as using dirt to heal a bullet wound, as useful as saying I’ll protect you and moving out the way letting pain inflict itself upon the person you said you’d protect, as useful as a lead raft, as useful as cold fire, as useful as a dull knife, as useful as having teachers who repeat what you already know instead of teaching, as useful as a word meant to have meaning but meaning nothing at all. As useless as themselves in other words they are as useless as they are useless. Emotions, an imaginary term given to imaginary concepts used to create imaginary conflicts and situations, in conclusion they have no purpose or meaning in reality.
