The Little Girl

The Little Girl

A Poem by Tellie Allen

 When she was a kid,

She always thought she'd

Be a princess. She would

Run wild without a

Care. Even when she lost the ones

She loved she still thought her

Life would be full of wonders...

Well that little girl is sixteen now.

She's afraid of her own shadow

Her peers. She cries so much

Her tears fall like rain. She walks

Alone. She is bullied and harassed.

She refuses to say words back.

She excepts them. And when

She gets home, she walks into

Her room alone and cries. She

Hates this awful pain. Hurting

Her so bad she can't bare to explain to anyone

Many people watch this girl hurt and cry

In fact many people could honestly stop and help this hurt

But you won't...

You all know this girl

Some of you since Kindergarden, but

Even there you caused her great pain.

Some of you have known her since

Year one of junior high. And yet again you

Only contributed. The rest of you well

You may have just met her this year or the last

And yet you sit in your chairs watching, laughing

You even help them do this to her! Why?

You all want to know who she is?

What you can't remember who it is? Are

You serious?! Take a look around you

Who doesn't seem like they are at peace with you?

You may like her or hate her

But either way you still hurt her

Still clueless? That poor

DEFENSELESS

Little girl

Is....

Me.

Many people are blind to the other people near them. Use negative words and actions leaving people feeling alone. Sometime we need a thicker skin and find a place where we can find OK. I like the way you told the story in this poem. A strong ending to a poem with a lesson. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
