Chapter 25

Chapter 25

A Chapter by Tellie Allen

He was quite as we drove away. The house grew smaller and smaller in the side mirror. I can’t believe this is how it was going to end.

“You ok Jake?”

“I’m fine baby girl. I think this is a good thing, let her hurt she did it to herself.”

He grabbed my hand and laced his fingers in between mine then smiled.

“Where are we going to go? I mean we have no where.”

“Actually, we have an apartment. Last night after you fell asleep I called around and got the cheapest I could.”

“So we have a place?”

“Yes.”

Wow he wasn’t kidding. I thought maybe after a while we’d come back, guess not.

We pulled up to a tall building. It was the prettiest blue I had ever seen. Well kept on the inside. We walked in and the floor was a lovely and warm red. The walls were so white, that if it snowed you wouldn’t have been able to tell.

“Jake I assume?”

“Yes.”

“And this lovely lady is?’

“My girlfriend Ashley.”

“Nice to meet you Ashley.”

“You too Mr.?”

“Oh sorry the name is Tony Bradford.”

“Oh well its nice to meet you too Mr. Bradford.”

“Call me Tony.”

“Ok?”

“Let me show you to you apartment.”

We walked towards the end of the hall then took a right. Jake reached for my hand then looked at me and smiled.

“Your short,” Jake said in a teasingly manner.

“Am not. I’m the second tallest in my family,” I said sticking my tongue out.”

He laugh, “I’ll bite that off if you’re not careful.”

I quickly stuck it back in making a face at him.

“So how long have you two been together?”

“Well almost a year. Isn’t that right Ashley”

I didn’t hear him at first, I was to busy glancing up and down the walls. They had pictures of the different people who use to live here.

“Ashley?”

“Huh?”

“We have been together for a year almost correct?”

“Oh yes.”

“Very nice. How old are two?”

“I’m 18,” Jake said.

“I’m 16.”

“OH so we have a younger couple. Wait there wont be any cops showing up will there?”

“Nah. I just moved out of my mom’s and Ashley’s mom likes our relationship.”

“That’s good. I remember one time two teenagers about your age moved in here. The parents had no clue that the daughter was still dating the older buy. And she decided to run away. Maybe two weeks later this place was crawling with cops and took the young man to jail and the young girl had to go back home.”

“How sad.”

“Wow, how long ago was this?”

“About two years ago today.”

I looked at Jake with a worried look, but he didn’t see it.
