WaterA Poem by KatieA poem written about water for Creative Writing my senior year.
As the sun rises it reflects off of the soft blue of the lake,
Creating a glow impossible to look away from.
A hand slowly sweeps through,
A row of waves following the touch.
A small section sits untouched,
Green with algae. Lonesome and cold the surface moves back and forth, Following the winds gentle motions.
A leaf falls, slowly, like a feather, Softly brushing the center of this beautiful oasis, Causing the body to silently ripple out, Sending a spiral of changes unknown.
Fluttering wings come down, Brushing the once untouched surface, Weightlessly walking across, Performing an impossible show.
The soft gentle blue calls to them, Blue as the evening sky on a brilliant spring day. Not a single cloud in sight, Light reflecting in every direction.
She looks down The water is replaced with a face. The mystery of this place amazes her. It means home to many, creates safety for some, and grants death to others
The trees sway, Creating a noise like a trickling creek. The sweet melody of the breeze on the surface, Quickly rushing to a place it will never find.
It laps at the edges, Seemingly wanting to escape, Yet completely content with where it is, Not a single place it would rather be.
Sitting there, Still in the soft summer rays. Silence all around, Time barely moving... © 2008 Katie |
