Face in the MirrorA Poem by KatieA poem about my fear of turning into a certain person I don't want to be. Originally written for Creative Writing my senior year.
Terrified of becoming what you cannot stand Your face so similar, nowhere to hide You look so closely at the face and slowly lift your hand You are becoming him You know there is a way to stop it, but you don't know if you can Yelling Screaming This isn't you! You cry out for someone, anyone, to help you stop this Doubting Giving in Letting the anger take over, nothing left but rage You look down at her crying You feel as if you are in a cage What are you doing? You won't accept this fate, so full of pain and hate You stare hard again at the face in the mirror You no longer see him and tears run down your face You realize for the first time who you are And that you love that person You are you, nothing left to fear © 2008 Katie |
