Final Release

A Poem by Katie
"

A poem about thoughts of suicide.

"

I look at the pills
Sitting in my hand
They look so innocent
But in just an instant they can end me

They call out to me
Beckoning me to end it all
To stop this hell on earth
And I give in

I throw them in my mouth
Without thinking
Not letting myself chicken out
I can't handle this anymore

I feel nothing at first
They I begin to fade
Maybe it hurts
But I don't know

Compared to the pain I've been living with
This feels like a release
I am finally letting go
This is the end of me

This is a good poem about suicide. I have heard that it is not that the depression that drives someone to suicide, it is the feeling of hopelessness. The feeling that the misery will never end.
