![]() Teenage Anthem.A Poem by BeatricePortinari.![]() We don't care what you say, we've never really listened.![]() So, darling, what do you do When you’re at the end of your rope And you’re hanging above the glass Of all your mistakes? Do you smile a wicked smile And jump Yelling that you’re willing To bleed a little just To, darling, Just to f*****g stay alive So lay it on me Now While we’re all Feeling just a little too invincible. Then maybe we can come together As long as you, my sweet, are going To promise That when you see these trails of scarlet You will run a nimble hand through the fire And come out Miraculously Unburned. Because, you have to see it, You’re here for as long as You fake it, honey. So pass the drinks and we’ll sing along Let the tide rise to our tattooed ankles Maybe we’ll scream at the moon Maybe, my lovely, we’ll do something stupid Just to see that we can Rise After we push ourselves Down. So we’ll be walking around With words in our mouths Hidden somewhere under the whiskey We’ll be rebels Baby, we’ll be rebels without a cause We’re going to make these Mistakes just to scream that we can We’ll learn how to cry So we can make a scene Because, dear, how many times Do I have to say That Honey We Are Invincible. © 2011 BeatricePortinari.Author's Note
