![]() We're Young, We're FreeA Poem by BeatricePortinari.![]() A little teenage invincibility is perfect for all those days where you have issues avoiding the question," What's the point?"![]() No, I don’t think we’re smart The quirk of his lips Says it all… We’re young, we’re free We’re supposed to make mistakes So sometime we’ll figure it all out But all I can say Is that I don’t believe… Catching fireflies doesn’t lead To a life of wonder… Throwing out all the options Only leaves the acceptable one Not the desired So we’re young, we’re free We’ll stay up all night long… And no, Mother I can’t make those promises… I can’t say I’ll learn Because how can I Stare into the sun Before I break a few pairs of glasses? And we all know I can’t borrow yours We have a different prescription… So fall in For the long hall, it’s what you signed Up for, dear. And now I’ll laugh Because it won’t be easy… We’re young We’re free And no, I’m not listening. © 2011 BeatricePortinari.Reviews
