Significant Septolet

Significant Septolet

A Poem by Broken.
"

For my creative writing class, I've been given a packet of quite a few different kinds of poems, and the assignment is to write my own using the decriptions and examples.

"

The Septolet is a poem consisting of seven lines containing fourteen words with a break in between the two parts. Both parts deal with the same thought and create a picture.

Significant Septolet -

Empty

Emotions echoing

Corners freezing..

Faces leaving..

Darkness

Snakes slithering

Voices screaming,

Silence; Reminiscing

This is an interesting fomat, and the images you use here are really evocative-- I especially like the aliteration in "Empty/Emotions echoing". The sharp sensory switch between "Voices screaming" and "Silence; Reminiscing" is enegmatic and provocative; I guess that's something inherent in the technique of this poetic structure.

Very nice. I used to write Haiku and Cinquain. The act of fitting thought to specific structure produces clarity.

This is not only done to "code" but touches the human condition in a moving way.
