BrokenA Poem by Hidden Nightmares
You never expected to fall so hard for her.
And you never even imagined that she would fall for you too. But she did... or at least she pretended to. It was actually sort of scary how easily she knocked down the walls that you had so carefully built. Even scarier was the fact that you didn't care. You never once tried to stop her. Instead, you let her tear down your fortress. You let her rip away your mask. You let her see the real you in all your broken glory. And to your surprise, she started putting you back together. Piece by piece, she carefully mended your heart and soul, until you were nearly whole. But out of nowhere she got up and left, never once looking back, leaving you shattered. Leaving you with a pain in your chest. A gut-wrenching pain that keeps you up all night, tossing and turning as you drown in your sorrow. A pain that reminds you of what you once had. Sometimes you manage to trick yourself into thinking you're okay and you'll only feel a dull ache. But then it comes back stronger than before. And now you fear it'll never go away. And it won't. Not until the day where it becomes so excruciating that you just can't handle it anymore. And you claw and dig until you reach your heart and tear it out. Throwing it aside, just like she did to you. Then you'll no longer feel the ache in your chest. But you'll be all to much aware of the emptiness it has found.
