Crimson Savior

Crimson Savior

A Poem by Hidden Nightmares

All day you've been wondering aimlessly, letting your subconscious lead your way. But something breaks your trance. Some small feeling in the corner of your mind is telling something isn't right. That's when you look around to find that you're standing on a cliff's edge, with nothing but jagged rocks beneath you. Had you taken another step, you would've been torn to shreds by the monstrous formations beneath you who would've surely welcomed your presence. This thought causes you to panic and without thinking, you try to run somewhere safer but your foot manages to slip on the tinniest pebble and you're sent flying backwards through the air. With a large splash you're submerged in water. You're certain you should of been ripped apart by the teeth like rocks that you saw down here. But when you resurface you find that you've somehow ended up in an ocean and there's no land in sight. You have little hope, but it's better than nothing. You swim as long as you can but it soon becomes difficult to even stay above water. And your efforts seem to have been useless, because as you look around, you seem to be no closer to land than before. You're just about to give up and let the water swallow you, when it comes to your aid. It rescues you before you suffocate. Taking a hold of your arms with all its strength, it drags you to shore. You look down at yourself to take in your condition. And it's so painfully beautiful to look at the crimson marks that have been formed on your skin after being touched by your savior.
