Ringing confusion

Ringing confusion

A Chapter by Hannah Bullock
"

Numb and hurt, she lays on the ground. Will rescue come?

"
She layed flat on her back, the sky was spinning in circles, and slowly but surely she was sure that  it had started to lose it's light. A ringing filled her ears as she dug her palms into the gravel, cleanching the earth with her fingers. Her hands stung as they felt the earth as she tried to muster up the strength to lift herself from the ground. She had only gotten halfway up, when her arms buckled, making her fall back on the ground. Pain shot up her back as she collapsed, and everything went black.
"I'm dead," she thought as she laid sprawled.  But if she was dead, how could she hear her own thoughts? Confused and scared, she triedd to open her eyes. She didn't have the strength. She thought about crying out, but she could already tell it would not suffice. Her throat was run dry but she could taste the faint taste of blood in her mouth. If she were to even make a peep, whatever was wrong with her, may get worse.
She tried to move again, but she was numb. Numb but concious of the pain. She tried to listen for something, anything. The ringing got louder as she focused, but she could still hear something loud and close by. It sounded like drums. She listened carefully, it took her a while to realize that the sounds she had heard was her own heart beating. It grew stronger with every breath she took, and skipped a beat everytime she didn't. She mentally clenched her teeth, f**k that ringing was annoying.

It felt like she spent eternity, just staring at a black canvas with the only thing letting her know she was alive was the constant ringing in her ears, and those sharp pains that chose to spasm through her body. She felt a tear roll down her cheek, and she grunted aloud. Her mind was racing, trying to put logic into the situation.
The sound of sirens filled the air, and she tried to open her eyes. She couldn't. The sirens grew louder until they were close by. She could hear running footsteps, and people talking. She moved her head slightly. That's when the world fell silent.
