A Smile

A Smile

A Poem by Brody Jack Jennings
"

Love is a grand thing, isn't it?

"
Her smile, that smile, it curves like a heart.
It's kind and beautiful and thin like a dart.
It's facing my way, the eyes focused on me,
But while they are on me, they're not on the street.
My love, my whole world, my girl is no fighter;
God I only wished our seat-belts were tighter!
Please no, oh why was it me? Why was I cursed?
Why am I alive, why didn't I die first?
I held her hand, we lay on the street broken;
Surely to die, I looked at her face: swollen.
But one thing was intact, as sweet as a tart:
Her smile, that smile, its curve breaks my heart.

@GlamGirl: Thank you, this is my first love-based poem. Most of my writing include a more odd fiction or story that usually makes little to no sense.

I like the rhyme in this poem. I really like the last line also, it really wraps up the piece.
Great work!
