ShadowsA Poem by Brody Jack JenningsA young Child (The narrator) is trying to sleep, but his wild imagination is keeping him awake and is playing games on his mind.I lay my head beneath my pillow at night, To dare not see the shadows of fright. Dragons in the sky, through the windows ghouls say hi. moonlights howl of horror, a monster looking through the door. My eyes grew wide with ol' sheer terror, I must admit, these monsters are clever. Teasing, taunting, mocking me! I lift my head so i can see: So i can see all around, Nothing but the slightest sound. So i twist and turn my head, Nothing here but me in bed. Minutes later i lift again, Because now is now, and that was then. There's but one light in the room, To fight of the impediments of doom. Shining, hopeful, full of light, i guess, now, i can sleep tonight. © 2010 Brody Jack JenningsAuthor's Note
