Brilliant Insanity

Brilliant Insanity

A Poem by Brittney

I once tried to be brilliant
To interpret all information
Convey as if I had truly known any of it
But I indeed did not.
I knew nothing but that I was not brilliant
Never to be brilliant educationally anyway
Never to be considered brilliant by society

But the potential of brilliance did not disappear
I wouldn't let go of it that easily
I set out to discover a New type of brilliant
Could it be possible to have brilliance
In a completely and rather insane way
I had not known for sure.
And I would stop at nothing.

And
There,
Then,
That's when it dawned on me
The brilliant I was looking for was not
In books, not in dictionary's, could not be bought
Taught or purchased through any other scheme

No.
Brilliant by creativity

That's what I seek.

I love the inspiration that this poem gives. Very moving! I can really relate to the feeling for something more, to further yourself and the long search that this longing creates but truly it is well worth it, in the end if you keep going and never give up you will learn so much along the way.
Love it.

This is a great poem. A lot of depth. A lot of good points you've made here. But I feel you've used the word brilliant too often. I know it's the key word and all, but if you were planning on using it this many times, maybe once or twice you could have used a synonym.

But creativity is not built from a vacuum.... That means you ARE brilliant also at something else.....

Brilliant by creativity ... The brilliance that makes the world go 'round, I'd say... Well and creatively penned, Brittney.

I luv when poems aren't just to express but to reflect as well on insights.

Oddly enough, this reminds me of myself a few years ago when I was processing information so quickly that my eyes would go into REM while i was talking to people and my speech would suddenly accelerate into gibberish. My frequent, mental breakdowns understandably freaked people out. I can relate and I'm glad you got it figured out.
