I Am Destined.

I Am Destined.

A Poem by Brittney

I am destined to live a life of solitude
Because in my mind Prision is within company

I am destined to bear the burden of others
Because in my heart I dread selfishness

I am destined to not feel pain, or happiness
Because in my senses, I have lost sensation

Yes I am destined to be a lonely soul
But I consider this a life of greatness
Not contributing harm, yet seeking appreciation
Not allowing distress on the ones I love
Engulfing the agony as my own
Taking nothing, giving everything
Seeking acceptance yet receiving no affection

Others may read my mind as crazy
But I shall not let them steal my dignity
Because you see,
That is meant for someone else.

This is a gorgeous write. I found more appreciation for it because it remind me a lot of myself, especially the 4th stanza "Yes I am destined to be a lonely soul
But I consider this a life of greatness
Not contributing harm, yet seeking appreciation
Not allowing distress on the ones I love
Engulfing the agony as my own
Taking nothing, giving everything
Seeking acceptance yet receiving no affection" It takes a strong willed person to do such a thing. Exceptional work Brittney

Your poem speaks to a noble pursuit. Putting others first and rising above it all, the goals of a saint, and so on that level you reach for heaven.

But the reality is we live upon the earth mired in its emotional realities. If you want to give to others, you must engage. Those that love you want and need you to engage--in a loving manner. Holding yourself separate will only add to your feelings of isolation and will teach nothing.

Open your heart again and feel those emotions and learn.

Very true, I feel as I was destined to be a caregiver. My perception though, changes from day to day.. read more

The destiny of an unselfish soul... Reminds me of the sacrifice of a loving parent, who gives their all and asks for nothing in return. A thoughtful piece, Brittney.
