Writing

A Poem by Brittany Bostic

A writer writes because she is a writer.
She writes for her pain,
her search for value,
her temptation to lust.

A writer writes because without words, there is no life.
She writes for her mother's warm heart,
for her father's rough fist,
her lover's luscious secret.

A writer writes because she feels passion dripping from her fingertips.
She writes for the blood that leaks from her soul,
the burn that presses on her hand muscles,
the thudding that flicks in her chest.

A writer is a great writer because she writes.
If she only thinks about writing,
she is not a great writer at all.
She is merely a great thinker.

And without words to write down, thoughts are useless.

I loved this, Ms. Bostic.

Each line and stanza were beautiful.

I liked the repetition of, "A writer writes..."

I feel it connected the reader (who is also a writer) with you on a deeper level each time you introduced a new topic to gaze upon.

Well done.

Much love,

LR

Gee
For some a must, for others, like myself, a way to while away time whilst the family sleeps.

Love this! Writing is always a form of escape, the reason to put your words and thoughts on paper. You put it so beautifully

Thank you! I appreciate this!
Every line reminded me of what made me write what I did. A beautiful piece dripping with life and feelings (of a writer). Bravo!

I liked and enjoyed the poem. I believe writers must write and they bleed their words to paper. Thank you Brittany for sharing the excellent poetry.

About
To write is to live and feel passion seething through your veins that somehow shows up in words on paper. I love words and the strange way that they use themselves to portray everything we have in.. more..
