Impractical Infatuation.

Impractical Infatuation.

A Poem by Britt

It was never my intention.
As declared from the start,
It was only a bit of fun.
But your charm captured parts of me
I thought I had lost to others.
And you whispered things into my ear
that no one has uttered
in a very long time.

Albiet, I pried them from your lips.
I just didn't expect you to have so much to say..
You reiterate that you don't want me
to fall for you,
That I'm "in over my head".
Bt your signals say else,
and I read between the lines.

Your own words say more about your
own feelings
than they do about mine.
You are in denial,
and that speaks more than any
contravening words ever will.
For now I will catch you,
But for next week I might not.

With distance comes disconnection.

Fall fast if you fall
                       because
                               it
                             might
                                 just
                               be
                                too
                                   late.

By the time you confront your
own feelings.
I will have accepted this
as impractical.
Because infatuations are
momentary.
And I only want you
for the moment.

I like how you structured the second to last verse. Dealing with infatuation is a difficult thing, especially when that infatuation might be construed as Love. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between the two.

Good poem. You managed to write this and explain in certain ways what an infatuation truly is, almost a short-term love. :)
