Silence in Chaos.

Silence in Chaos.

A Poem by Britt
"

This is a poem about a young boy during the war.

"

The black and white gritty silent motion picture

would not appeal to you or me or anyone else of this day and age.

But that black and white gritty silent motion picture

was his only escape.

From the destruction of his home,

His family,

From a war that had no meaning good enough to steal thousands of lives.

He remembers the first time he witnessed such beauty,

At first apprehensive and later

in love.

His big eyes follow every movement on the screen with awe and

He does not question how this is possible in fact he does not question

anything.

This is a regular visit,

A bond has been created between him and the screen and he

loses himself in the Charlie Chaplin like, humour of it all.

Slowly the sound of the destruction outside fades,

His head being filled only with the dark room dimly lit by a poorly displayed film.

No sound in here, but nothing out there either and finally he can relax because finally

He has found his silence in the chaos of his life.

Escapism at its finest. Melancholic. I enjoyed the last verse, it was subtle. Overall, a good poem about escaping through film and art in order to avoid the harsh realities of war.

Good Job. :)
