A Chapter by Brittany

The trailer was old. It smelt like someone's bad cooking forty years prior. The previous owner was disabled, in a wheel-chair. Metal bars were strategically aligned in the shower, on the walls. The bathroom reeked like piss. The floor around the toilet was stained. Across the hall a most unfortunate room. A strange shade of blue- a cross between a robin's egg and an acid-nightmare- drenched the walls.

"I'll take it."

That night, I sat on the floor in the blue-room. Listening to the trains pass through town. And I kept thinking,

"What the hell have I done?"

THAT completely made me laugh. i have been in that apartment, and attempted to sleep inside those walls. impossible to say just how much the dreams they created damaged my psyche

you capture that desperate lunge towards independence with a thoughtful grace.

So completely beautiful. If only to show the way mistakes are made in a single act of "trying to do what's right" , or what feels right. Wow, I hope I'm interpreting that right. Either way, much much enjoyable.
