Ember's Building

Ember's Building

A Poem by Brittany

I feel it building deep inside

Waiting to rear its ugly head again

The embers of rage smoldering within

Growing, intensifying with every shallow breath

I grip tightly the chain that binds the beast

A practice that takes all my strength

Refusing to let its fury free

How long can I cage the monster

A school shooter may have the same thoughts going through his head. Anger that simmers for too long is bound to become explosive sooner or later.

I love this. Resonates a lot with the stuff I usually dwell upon.
