BurningA Poem by BrittanyThe memory of you
stings me, Like a frigid breeze
on the wings of the night. You wash back on me
in waves, Destroying my
respite. I’m drowning in the
visions Of what we could have
had or been. A pointless straining
of my heart, Silently mourning an
unfinished end. In this stirring of
emotions I burn, I drown, I
reel. They should be locked
away, discarded…. They’re no longer
mine to feel. But, tell me, do you
think of me? Does my memory stir
your mind? Do I come to you in
whispers On the lonely,
endless nights? That single question
burns my thoughts In the deepest
reaches of my soul. You haunt the shadows
of my mind Do you think of me…is all that I must know. © 2018 BrittanyFeatured Review
