Man in the Suit

Man in the Suit

A Chapter by Britt Nicole
"

Lily discovers a man outside the Garden for the first time.

"
Lily was screaming at the sky. At Him. She was furious for being thrown out. There was nothing out here. Nothing to talk to, or to eat. She was going to starve.

She wanted to cry and laugh simutaineously. Her parents were back in Heaven on Earth, and she was stranded. She couldn't even find the Garden. It was hidden from her forever.

Uphead, just past the line of trees, a figure was watching her. The sun behind him looked to scorching his back. He raised a hand to wave at her, but she didn't wave back. Wariness filled her mind, but she pushed it away and ran to the figure. The soft grass crunched beneath her feet as she sprinted up the hill.

Once she was close, he turned and started walking away. She paused for a second. Why is he leaving? Her legs pushed her on forward toward the figure, and she soon found herself short of breath.

This was a new feeling to her. She never ran out of breath. She always had enough to energy to do anything. One of the perks of being in the Garden, she guesses.

"Hey! Hey person! Who are you?" She shouted, nearing the figure.

A tall man with an object on his head turned back around and smiled at her, stopping his retreat. His long body loomed over the field, his shadow as tall as a tree. His skin was...covered in a dark fabric. Lily looked at her bare body and felt a little weird, but she approached him anyways.

His white teeth flashed at her. "It's called a suit. No one's invented it yet, but they will." He winked at her. "And this is a hat." He tapped the figure on top of his head and smiled. His eyes raked over her exposed body.

She smiled uneasily at him, but didn't run. This might well be the only other human she sees in a long time.

"Who are you?" Lily asked.

"They call me Satan. You must be Lily." He tilted his hat at her and she nodded her head.

"What are you doing here?" She placed her hands on her hips.

"I'm here to assist you. You're frustrated, and probably angry. I can help with that." Satan started circling her, eyeing her bare body. Suddenly, she felt insecure, wanting to cover herself. "I know who you are. I know what got you kicked out. You can thank me for that. Children are always the easiest to fool."

"Children?"

"A small person, young." He cocked his head.

"I'm not small." She glared. "I'm not young. I'm almost as tall as you."

"Yes, you are." He stopped circling, and stood directed in front of her. "I can offer you a deal."

"A deal?" Her face scrunched up in confusion.

"An offer that requires something in exchange." She straightened her posture and looked determindedly at Satan. He smiled again. "I can give you eternal life. You won't have to worry about anything, as long as you do anything I say."

"Eternal life? I can live forever?"

"Yes, ma'am. Interested?"

"Yes," she blurted. She didn't even have to think. The choices were: either starve and die alone, or live forever with a strangely handsome ma. One option had more potential than the other. "I'll do it. I'll do everything you say."

"Perfect, then it's settled." He held his hand out in between them, but Lily only stared at it. She gazed at him quizzically. He told her to shake it, and she did. The wind bursted around them suddenly, and ended as soon as it had started. When he let go, a sharp pointed object appeared in his hands. "Take this."

She grabbed the rounded part of the object and took it from him. "What is it?"

"A knife. Stab yourself with it if you want immortality."

"Stab? Does that mean kill?" Lily asked, Satan nodded his head. "But I'll die!"

"Just do it. Trust me, girl. We made a deal; I'm giving you immortality."

Lily gave a pained expression, and held the tip of the knife to her torso. The cold metal stung her stomach as she lightly pressed it in.

"Just do it hard and fast. It'll go by quicker." He offered.

A sigh escaped her lips as she held the knife out, pointed at her. In a flash, she yanked the knife into her, and she gave a small cry. The sharp edge of the knife sliced into her skin as easily as she dives into the water. She felt her insides explode with pain. Her throat closed up in tears, so only small whimpers escaped her. The man with the hat smiled at her. He wanted her to push it in farther.

She let out a choked sound as she pushed the knife farther inside her. Her arms went limp as she stood there awkwardly writhing in pain. She let out a scream and there was laughter in the distance.

This was a mistake.

Black dots danced across her vision and she realized she had fallen over. Must have hit her head. She looked up at Satan as he crouched by her head. He tilted his hat as she bled to death.

Once again I know NONE of this happened in the Bible. I had to change it to fit the story.
