DF Chapter 25A Chapter by BrittaneyThe small creature inched its way through the cavern. It didn’t want to be here, nothing wanted to be here. Magic permeated the walls and stung the creature’s skin, but it continued. To not deliver the news would be worse than traveling these halls. Its master demanded all news, good and bad, to be delivered immediately. The air grew staler as it descended, making breathing difficult. So it held its breath and hunched lower, wishing the task to be over. The door stood before him not much longer, twenty feet tall and eight feet wide. Its wood was dark red, stained with blood and magic of the lock. Symbols and runes were carved into the front, but slowly they became fainter and fainter losing their power. Soon its master would emerge; soon it would no longer need to come down here. “Master,” the creature called and bowed low, its face touching the ground in respect and fear. Wood creaked and screamed as a face pushed itself into existence. Though HE had no true form, his jailers’ magic forced this one onto him. Not for long though, HE could feel it now. “Speak creature.” “The words have been spoken Master. The witches know of their destiny and of your existence.” The creature shook with fear as its master roared with anger. A blast of magic roared to life, making everything in five miles shiver with fear. “Do they know? Do they know what the key is?” HE demanded. Maybe everything wasn’t lost. “Not yet Master.” “Excellent,” the face grinned with a sick satisfaction as it got an idea. “Lets end this before it starts. Find their weakness creature and attack it. I want their corpses at my feet when I am loose. I want to bathe in their blood when I am free.” “Yes Master,” The creature answered and waited until the face disappear. Crawling away, it made its plans. It had to succeed, there was no choice. Its master didn’t give second chances. © 2008 BrittaneyAuthor's Note
