Daddy, DaddyA Poem by Britny_ GradyGrowing up and realizing the truth.Daddy, Daddy
'Daddy, Daddy, come and play' That's what I use to say. 'Go away, just leave me be' That's what you would say to me.
'Be big and don't cry' Was another way you'd reply. 'Go and play with your brother' That was yet another.
'Maybe some other day' That's how you turned me away. 'Today was the concert, Oh, I forgot' I remember you said that a lot.
'When you're big you'll understand' I'm older now but it's still out of hand. 'I don't care, you're just a kid' That was your response, no matter what I did.
'Your mom's not the boss, I am' Then the back door would always slam 'Do this', 'Do that' Comands were all you ever spat
'I'm sorry, I really am' Why should I give a damn? 'Daddy's left us for his girlfriend down south' Mom told us, you couldn't open your own mouth
'Daddy, Daddy, Come home today' Those are words I will never say.
