I Know Better

Welcome to my world. It's all fairy tales and unicorns, I swear.

I Know Better

 I thought I knew better,

Than to dare let you in.

In a world where love never lasts forever,

There is nothing I can do to win.

I don't know why I thought that you were different,

But for you I really tried my very best.

I wish I put between us that barrier of distance,

'Cause now I know you're just like all the rest.

So I will build the biggest wall I can to keep us apart,

Because I want nothing more than to keep you out.

And I will lock cold, hard bars on my heart,

'Cause the fact that anyone can care I seriously doubt.

Don't mistake me, I am glad you are joyful,

Happy that you find pleasure in my pain.

But I thank you and keep my glass half full,

Because nobody is ever getting through that wall again.

I will survive this life by any means necessary,

And so the best way to conquer is to divide.

I will stand on my own and take my victory,

Because now I know better than to let you on my side.

Author's Note

Skai Rain
I felt like spewing more feelings. Have more feelings. Actually, fun fact, the main character of book I am writing on here, (which I will probably re-write completely at some point) goes through this mindset a lot. This is because I have to have something BIG I can relate to when I am writing my characters in order to put my emotion into them. That being said, this is the biggest thing (and probably the only thing) I have in common with Sebastion from The Black Arrow.

Well I think you would know better than us the reader but the last thing you need is o risk your emotinal sanity for a bad relationship. See I think as a human being you deserve to find someone that cares for you and that involves your sanity. If the scales begin to get tipped and you find yourself sacrifing for me those could be warning signs. Again your poetry is so different from your prose is a little susprising. The layout and the intentional rhyme is as if they take away from the reality of feeling. Nearly inviting to consider the possibility of "I am so aware of this feeling that I find them funny" yet from where I stand they aren't.

A little intriguing if you ask me.

Thankyou

That's very peculiar.... You have to admit. It always funny until someone gets hurt....
A very troubling and introspective look at love and the trust that binds us; I have to say, I didn’t notice one damn unicorn. It’s amazing the barriers people put up to protect themselves, usually after trust has been broken, and a heart torn to shreds, but if history teaches us anything, there’s always a weak spot to be found in the future. I could see this as an internal conflict for Sebastian, his mother, the new sultry dame, not to mention a kinship with a tracker and a b*****d. Well done, Brit, be sure to let me know when the next chapter is back up.

Thank you for the read and input! By the way, I put the sixth chapter up last night.
This is a great poem.
Tells the pain that the person has gone through that he/she can no more trust anyone.
Tells about the realization after being hurt.
