Welcome to my world. It's all fairy tales and unicorns, I swear.

I Know Better

 I thought I knew better,

 Than to dare let you in.

 In a world where love never lasts forever,

 There is nothing I can do to win.

               I don't know why I thought that you were different,

               But for you I really tried my very best.

               I wish I put between us that barrier of distance,

               'Cause now I know you're just like all the rest.

                               So I will build the biggest wall I can to keep us apart,

                               Because I want nothing more than to keep you out.

                               And I will lock cold, hard bars on my heart,

                               'Cause the fact that anyone can care I seriously doubt.

                             

                 Don't mistake me, I am glad you are joyful,

                 Happy that you find pleasure in my pain.

                 But I thank you and keep my glass half full,

                 Because nobody is ever getting through that wall again.

                                      

 I will survive this life by any means necessary,

 And so the best way to conquer is to divide.

 I will stand on my own and take my victory,

 Because now I know better than to let you on my side.  

                  

                         

Author's Note

I felt like spewing more feelings. Have more feelings. Actually, fun fact, the main character of book I am writing on here, (which I will probably re-write completely at some point) goes through this mindset a lot. This is because I have to have something BIG I can relate to when I am writing my characters in order to put my emotion into them. That being said, this is the biggest thing (and probably the only thing) I have in common with Sebastion from The Black Arrow.

i really like the poems format, its well done and adds to the poem, as opposed to most poetry i see here formatted in a stylized fashion. it often times detracts. this was my favorite part, very well written:

Good rhyme scheme and flow, I could feel the emotions in this piece and it is well written. Many people go through this point in life where you are just tired of letting people in when all they seem to do is hurt you, but the pain is what will make it that much more special when you find the one truly meant for you.

Because I want nothing more than to keep you out." - try all you want, that thing ain't gonna happen ma'am.. We are only human, we fall in love, we fail, we break down...We fall in love again.. That's life, things change, people change, we will have to deal with the punches..

I like the flow in this one.. It's quite elegant.. The rhymes fit in well.. A really good write :)..
