As if through Reflections

As if through Reflections

A Poem by Britaini Gross
"

Just a short poem I threw together.

"

This world screams only of hateful darkness.

In no point of my life was I a social person.

I liked to disappear to where it was dark.

One day my innocent darkness started to worsen,

as my soul was stained with that black mark.

The yelling, the screaming, the pain,

Outside I held the perfect misleading smile,

while inside, the memory was torturing my brain.

My entire existence was put on trial.

Then one day I met someone new,

and he took my heart from me without consent.

My brain kept screaming that he was untrue,

but my heart insisted on being content.

Slowly the light re-entered my soul and shined through my eyes.

My world changed from the monster I've known,

she stopped teasing me with all of her lies.

Love and beauty are what I've been shown,

My world is whispering of embracing light.

Beautifully captured. I feel the words in this strongly. I have became somewhat of a voluntary recluse. I find it easier all round not to get involved in peoples lives, it only ends up hurting someone. But as you say, that painted smile is ever present if anyone gets too close, and they never see the joins where it is held in place.
I hope the whispering light continues to shine your way.

The word whispering in your last line, should I take that as an hesitant reaching out to the world ?

I like the font variations that go up and down with degree of introvertion.

I am terribly pleased that you have overcome the
monster, that you have soul again and that life is
once again a pleasure.
Thank you

This hits home for me. Beautifully written, and the way it was written expressed the exact way you probably felt. An amazing read.

Thank you so much
I really, really enjoyed this. Your words do a great job of evoking the the emotional torment felt, the way the world turns against you, and then morphing as you find the light. The way you play with the font size to illustrate this change is very nice. To me, it seems to highlight how the negative things are always easier to believe and make a larger mark on our souls. Well done.
