Educational DepressionA Poem by BrionyMcThink it's pretty obvious what this is about, it's just something I feel quite passionately about.I admire the people who cannot get out of this state, yet they get out of bed Because what is worse, getting a bad grade Or taking time to fix your permanent emotional damage Oh, don’t you worry, it’s just a phase and now it’s just to grow up and go to your grave Stuck between suicide and getting a A*, you’re only given help until you are too far gone You are out of their control and the test paper won’t see the times you put the pen to paper But later you put the pain to your skin Oh, don’t you worry, it’s just a phase and now it’s time to get on with it and become an educational slave When your life becomes about organising your paper folders Not about organising your mental health There must be something wrong Though all you have is deadlines and submissions, So grit your teeth, wipe your tears and play along I admire the people who are able to become the worlld’s best f*****g actor in order to impress an educational system that will not be impressed by your courage and kindness When all you want is to sleep and live in total darkness It’s a generation of depressed, essay writing sleepwalkers Searching for the pills but finding the pen instead Don’t you mind that voice in your head It’ll only pull you down and if your grades go with you, then there is nothing we can do Praise the sane and praise the well Be ashamed of the exhausted and let them dwell Because you will not be praised for waking up today When last night you were planning your death And imagining what they would say I admire the people who put aside their issues because what are you without your degree, You’re a no good, washed up, antidepressants junkie like me© 2015 BrionyMc |
