Grown Ups

Grown Ups

A Poem by Alyssa

Tony liked to kiss girls at recess

Lily liked to play house

Adam wanted to save the world

Me, I wanted to help

Tony dated little Lily this year

And Lily kept a secret

Adam joined the basketball team

I never had time to see them

Lily had her secret this year

She said that Tony left the state

Adam killed himself in July

It seems I was a little too late

Tony kissed a lot of girls

And now Lily always plays house

Adam never saved the world

If he couldn’t save himself

And now we say good bye again

Our paths have reached their end

And we all wish that we could return

To when this was all pretend
