Wish Upon...

Wish Upon...

A Poem by Briley

I closed my eyes

And made it be in my mind.

With my head turned upwards

And the cold night air smacking my face

I put my whole heart into it.

My whole soul into it.

Believed for a second.

Admittedly,

Even a minute.

Felt like an hour.

Telekinesis.

Wished.

Hoped.

Only to find out,

In the end,

It was nothing but an

Airplane.

Really strong build up to the ending-- you know the first time I read this my browser was blocking the title. So the ending was a surprise and I was like wow that 's great. Then I scrooled up and saw the title and I was like man I'm glad I didn't read the title first. Like having the ending of a movie told to me before I saw the film. Maybe a title that doesn't tell the ending of the poem may be something to consider. Just something to consider-- that's all. Other than that-- like I said exceptional poem. Oh yes, the whole idea of the peom being about something that we wish upon that we thought was real, or whatever but in the end it's not real. That's just a really cool concept there.
