Alered

Displays have meaning, symbols for reflection. Some are called to create religious displays. This poem is to give thanks for those who take the time to create a beautiful place of worship.

Altered

Don't want to go -nothing to consider,

the well of ideas evaporated-

              prayed for wisdom

              sought anointing

                            knelt to receive it at the place of obedience.

              The Father touched, anointing poured, the well full,

                            a vision in her mind.

                                          The Altar

 Gathered items

              black velveteen cloth, wrinkled

                            little shine of light, dark against

              an orange patterned veil, large enough to drape;

              dead wildflowers, banded dried cracking

                                          fragile, brown;

              mirrors round, shiny, reflecting, every vision captured;

              single white candle in crystal designed to showcase,

                            ready to alter.

Obediently lain over the chair;

              black draped ~sin covered, dark deplete of light

                            a symbol covered with the veil ~

              burnt orange splashed fabric

                            stained as if by blood ~vivid reminder of the cost of life.

              flowers dead, dry ~in miraculous need of life

              mirrors reflect the Father's vision

              one lone candle gleaming, lighting the place of pause and prayer.

                                          The Altar

The message rang true ~BELOVED~

              bring your black dirty broken life

                            into my presence

              in my reflection bow before me

                            -sin purged by blood spilled

              look into my face

                            see yourself as I see you

BEAUTIFUL, EMBRACED, LIVING, OVERCOMING,

            VEIL torn off, EVERLASTING, DELIGHTFUL child.

                        Drawn, she walked forward and knelt,

                        dripped sobbing tears, staining a mirror on

                                    the altar.

The surrendered heart ~softened with the anointing oil~

              viewed the women at the well of joy, hope and change

                            tear drenched profoundly moved by the message.

The surrendered heart became unveiled, open to new freedom, yielded.

She puts her gathered items away, reaches for one tear stained mirror

              in need of cleaning.

The Father's voice whispers,

              “Not the soul cleansing tears of my daughter”

                            New reflections required.

                                          Altered at the Altar

Very descriptive and visual. I'm not religious, but appreciated this obviously came from a spiritual place. Thank you for sharing. Question: Title says Alered, but thinking it's Altered? :)
