Anticipate

A Poem by Brighid an Lasair

Let me trace the flesh of your frame-
With the gentle tips of my fingers-
Before dragging my nails parallel to your spine-
My gaze meets yours"
Your eyes alive with the fire of a thousand burning embers-
I could be happy like this-
My fingers flirting with your flesh-
Your eyes seducing mine-
In this darkened, private room-
Away from the rest of the world-
Our stance becomes horizontal-
And we’re wrapped in blankets-
My head resting on your chest-
Listening to the steady, rhythmic pulse of your heart-
Your fingers play through the ends of my hair-
A touch so enticing-
I can’t resist"
I lift my head-
My lips search for yours-
To know them"
As I long to know the rest of you-
But I’m awakened by a shaking pause"

There is no darkened room-
No figures lying in an intimate embrace-
No, not yet"
Still my mind races for these moments-
Imagined and desired-
In the height of dreaming hours-
Beneath a glowing moon-

Great blend of reality and dream. Loved the build up and love the emotion and longning for emotion on part of the subject. Really liked this.
