I'm Over It

I’m done with trying to keep ahold of something that I’m inevitably going to lose. There’s no reason to put up a chase when you’re never going to win the prize. So in the end, when you look back on how you’ve spent your time, would you rather see the “what ifs” or the chances that you made the most of by getting over it? Personally, I’d want to live my life to the fullest without having to watch every step I take for fear of ruining something that hasn’t even been established. Sure, there might have been a chance for it to work out, but it was slim. I’ll have you know that I’m not very confident in myself so I’d rather not take the risk.

Over the past few days I’ve realized that things aren’t always what they seem to be. Something that might have appeared to be unbreakable could be the most fragile and people who seem to be the strongest are really weak and unreliable. But that’s just life, isn’t it? We learn to make ourselves seem better than we really are whether it be for protection or to be more appealing to those around us.

It hasn’t been long, I’ve only just started to notice it, but the people who I thought were my friends are the biggest liars of all. You think you’ve gotten to know someone, yet it’s the people we know the best that hide the most from us. I don’t know, I’m not some wise person who’s seen more than the average human, but I have lived. Just by doing that, I’ve experienced a lot and that has given me the experience needed to comment on interactions between people. So just remember that nothing is as good as it seems because when it comes down to the wire, they always leave. That’s why I’ve made sure to put up a wall and keep them out. No one ever stays, but that’s okay because I’m over it.
