Seasons

Seasons

A Poem by Birdie

Life has seasons
For far more than a year
This should be beautiful
But it's what I fear

And lust for

Because the curse of consistency
Is a special hell
But when tides rise and fall
With no warning
Sometimes all you want is a rock

To cling to

Because one can only swim for so long
In waters so dark

But I shine my light
And I'm still swimming
And perhaps the tides will rise
And perhaps seasons will change
But I'll be here

Or somewhere near

And I can only hope you will be there too

But if you need to follow a current of your own
I would understand

I just don't like to float alone.

Ah, I really liked this, especially the last few lines. Has a very solemn feeling to it, but in a good way that makes you think. Very well-written!
