My mom passed away when I was 15 years old from cancer
I sit in my room in a daze of amaze,
As she lies on her back counting her last days.
Who would have thought she’d burn out in the prime of her age?
While all I can do is sum my tears on a page.
As I watch her battling, striving for one last breath,
Everyone knows she faired her best,
Hanging two days past death.
We sit at night and cry because we have nothing better to do,
Except hold our thoughts of you,
To my own blood be true!
She loved so many, yet hated so much.
We never knew the love a disciplining hand can touch.
If I could give my life, I wouldn’t hesitate,
If only I knew the next ten years would be great.
As I watch her battling, striving for one last breath,
Even a child could guess all the rest,
Hanging two days past death.
But I know no matter how hard we try, it will never stop,
‘Til her time in life has hit the top,
Slowly her pulse will drop…
And we are left without a mother, to guide and hold
To grow up with us and die when we are old.
Through every trail I make in life, no one will see,
The one who installed this life inside of me.
I watch her battling, striving for one last breath,
The sound of life going under arrest,
Hanging two days past death.
Tears grow behind soldier’s eyes; brave men pray,
While she lapses in-between here and away,
A family searches for the words to say
Now all I do is sit watching death come by, sit and cry
Cursing why it was necessary for her die, to spread and fly
Still I’m here, alone in my room, listening to the fade of life
Witness to the passing of a mother, a daughter and wife.
Bella, this is really touching and heart felt. Could feel your pain through out. I can't think of anything that brings pain like death and especially a parent. I have lost both mom and dad and both of them went before they should have. I am sorry, my friend. Losing parents is the worst. You feel like you have lost a connection to this world, and especially losing the woman that bore you.
My deepest condolences are with you, Bella. Carole
Very sad and melancholic. Thought the repetitive stanza worked really well. I'm desperately sorry to hear of your loss. I think the way you have written this really brings out the feeling you have/had around the time of the events.
Well done for being able to write about such a tragic time.
My heart goes out to you. I lost my Dad when I was 15, so I can relate. My Mom's still here, I don't want to think about not having her around....
You did an excellent job here expressing heartfelt grief and dispair, that this reader relates to.
I pray healing to your heart.

Sorry about your moms death, but I love the poem so much and it gives you feeling when you read it. It actually made me cry. You did such an awesome job!
About me,
What is there to say,
Capturing the true hearts of people,
Listening to the words of the wind,
Thinking upon the deepest and darkest of societies secrets,
Holding on to what is mine- keeping.. more..
