A Prison of Silence

A Prison of Silence

A Poem by Brianna Brie
"

I just cannot bring myself to share, to care. There is a beaver’s damn inside that keeps All wordy passions from flowing out everywhere.

"

A Prison of Silence

I lost my voice in a terrifying nightmare

Screams deep and throaty catches and dissipates

Running still, open mouth without sound anywhere.

All these thoughts and ideas jumble up

In mass confusion; and left unsaid frustrates

Into a heap of discarded puzzle pieces piled up.

I lost my voice believing a pathetic lie.

All that spills out is worthless, or better off unspoken

Then to fall upon indifferent ears only to disqualify.

I just cannot bring myself to share, to care.

There is a beaver’s damn inside that keeps

All wordy passions from flowing out everywhere.

I lost my voice in the valley of apathy.

An abundance of unformed words Canyon deep

Wandering in a passive symphony.

Apathy is the worst....better to be able to feel total elation or torturous pain of heart...but to feel nothing is to feel dead inside...and that symphony sounds so off key we want to shut it off.
the wording in this is perfect...and that dam inside...we get so bottled up until we explode.

Yes, apathy is a killer. Ends the process before it can even start. Thanks for reviewing.

How do you hike up that trail to escape the valley, apathy holds me hostage to where it starts to feel like normality. I love your flow and creative word play in this poem. Subject matter is completely all to relatable. A 100/100 for me.

Apathy is a curse. To feel nothing is worse in my opinion than feeling pain. A most emotional write from a writer locked inside a room feeling insignificant and unheard. Your readers hear you Brianna.

Good to know, Troy. Thanks for reviewing.
what a bummer for creative people to be imprisoned .. emotions can be a real roller coaster can't they?! i have been in a very long dry spell ... over a year .. only recently i am re-invigorated to even try .. but it's ok ... i don't do this for a living .. and stepping back can sometimes produce surprises unlooked for ..

A very strong emotional piece that is relatable in many ways. Sometimes we feel a sense of surrender in this world of apathy. Where our voice and words don't matter anymore because they fall on deaf ears. Especially for creatives this could be a nail on the coffin of our art. In draws us into a void of indifference. Shouting aimlessly in our minds into the chasm of unsympathetic stoicism. We always have to remember that we matter, and that we make a difference even if we manage to touch just one heart. CLE
