Sea Monsters

Lost in a sea of memories

eons ago, you were forgotten

To dinosaurs and fossil rocks

a time of volcanic eruptions and fire spouts

Wandering wastelands of nothingness

Wallowing sounds of pathetic cries

Seething cauldrons of yesteryear

Geysers steam from portals of time

To synch damned hair’s of existence

Footsteps caution, “oh shakeable earth”

Darkness surrounds slitted streams of lava light

Will the new day dawn?

Copious amounts of fire boil

love breathes promises yet death inspires

back on that fateful day when all was lost,

Hopeless passion expects too much

Charred memories and blistered thoughts

A fleeting vegetation to starve upon

The sun fell, darkness rose, morning never dawned

O’ laughter, where hither did thy go?

By and by, the melody of a unsatisfied affection

A glow unmet, sunlight rays cross marred flesh

Rock to rock, senses shriek overbearing caution

Precarious steps of injury turn by turn,

Is there even a place upon earth?

To restore the soul and settle the heart.

For laughter to freely live again

At times, I need to throw myself at the fire

To consume an hour, erase a day

Swift feet push to barren places

Bleak, heavy footed days stomp like monster soles

Clinging to a satchel of empty hope

Volcanic ash snows ice and fire

To remind me of stealthy perils

Shan't a God or Goddess posses thy very soul?

Everything that lived wiped out in a moment. And except for a chosen few, it happened with humans, at least according to the bible.
But if it comes again...what or who will be left...
a few humans, a few animals? Just land and sea?
There is so much hate in the world right now, we have lost the idea of peace and love completely...
is there hope? I want to believe so.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Jacob. Contrary to this poem, I still hope with you.

A fire that doesn't burn brings riches such as this remarkable piece of work. Here it seems the flames have transformed to beauty. Wonderful talent for translating what the heart speaks without words

I found this poem to be right on the money for what I am experiencing right now. It has been ages, probably 6 or 7 years since I have been on this site. To me, it had all been wiped out, eradicated, destroyed, (long story) but I ventured back to see what lie in the ruble and found myself surprised that it all came back to me. This poem combined with your comment that you hadn't written poetry in ages. My interpretation may be off but that is how it came to me this morning. Thank you for sharing.
