HOPE

Hope is bullshit

it is that self delusional

mind game we play

with ourselves

to make everything

seem better

 

Hope is a cop out

like believing in god

that somehow

the here and now

is unimportant compared

to what comes later

 

Hope is an excuse

to not take responsibility

to not take action

to stand idly by

while others make

decisions for you

 

Hope is a dream

that makes us feel cozy

all warm and fuzzy

when the stark reality

stares us in the face

and says different

 

Hope is bullshit

so lace up your boots

grab your gas mask

and take to the street

cut the umbilical cord

and do something
