What did I do to deserve this?

What did I do to deserve this?

A Poem by Brian K. Walters
"

A reality check

"

What did I do to deserve this?

One thing after another

Constantly going wrong

I didn’t do anything special

Or out of the ordinary

So, Why me Lord?

I’ve traveled a lot of roads

Trying to do what’s right

Yet every time I turn around

There’s a new hurdle

For me to overcome

Are you even there?

Suddenly from around a corner

My daughter runs with a smile

With her arms wide open

And her eyes full of love

Everything changes

And I feel like a fool

What did I do to deserve this

Precious gift from God

Her undying love

I didn’t do anything special

Or out of the ordinary

But thank you Lord.

I know the feeling of hopelessness followed by the feeling of joy of knowing that my boys are gifts from God sent to remind me that I'm not alone. I often wonder where I'd be without them and the thought brings chills. They are my everything and will remain that way till the day that I die. I never knew love until January 5, 1991~ My firstborn's birthday.

No matter what is happening around us we can rest assured that we are needed, wanted and loved, and amazingly it is the tiniest of things (our children) that gives us strength to go on~ no matter what battles we may be facing.

Glad you're back!! : )

Yes u did..u loved someone. Therefore made..... love. Nothing like girls I have 3. Good form and flow to this write. I think everyone can relate to asking God why. The twist with the realization of your gift gives people hope and reason. I like it.

A most warm write my friend. Children have a way of making us appreciate life and a profound way of making us understand how fragile we all are. Beautiful poem! Holly

so beautiful, yes we need to remember the previous gifts we are given, and take the time to appreciate them..There is not gift from God more wonderful than the gift of a child. Thanks for sharing this!! Happy you are back Brian!:)
