Far-off Love

Far-off Love

A Poem by BrianLove
"

A poem about distant love...It has a rhyme scheme...I guess it's kind of like an extended sonnet.

"

They say distance augments our love

But, it only slowly severs our bond

I guess we’ll never release pure white doves

For you, my heart can no longer grow fond

If you arrive, you’ll be walking on palm fronds

I can’t wait for that triumphant entry

But, I fear we’ll never correspond

Especially if it takes a century

Why have eyes if I am denied the sight of your wonderful face?

What are ears for but to hear your magnificent voice?

In my heart I feel only empty space

I would run to you, but it’s not my choice

So here I am, trying to bridge the gap with this pen

Sadly, it is oh so short…

I refuse to accept never seeing you again

The only thing left is my last resort

I will see you again, my love

But remember, there is no marriage up above
