FROZEN IN TIME

FROZEN IN TIME

A Chapter by Brian Kraklau

They come in the night with wild cries

They curse in unrecognized words

Safety left with the setting light

All sleep has escaped my eyes for many days, now

The mountain stands menacingly in the background

Cries of injured spread out into the night

They cry out as the freezing wind sighs

I see one of the enemies in the distance

Staring at me with fire in his eyes

With hate unknown of a reason in the personal form

In this moment alone I believe I’m at my end

In this moment, alone, I fell ready to face death

I wish my loved ones back home not to mourn

I died not of the honorable soldier’s death

I died from being frozen down to my very essence.

Interesting ending. Something that many could attribute to something personal. Well done.
