THE LAST PERSON TO BEFRIEND

THE LAST PERSON TO BEFRIEND

A Chapter by Brian Kraklau

The butterfly with wings of red, red wire

Flies up above the mixture of color

Of green, red, and blue

Flies up into the red, orange, yellow, and black sky

Away from the forest set ablaze

Set on fire.

Flying to the distant ocean shore all blue with memory

As if all the worlds past has been succumbed into one here

As if waiting for the day when all people come together to finally agree

A place to rest before the last leap into the sky

The last beat of red, red wire wings to beat towards the end of their journey.

So far away from the fire

Carried away by these red, red wings of wire

Carried away to the distant shore

To the birth of the mermaids choir

To the shore of the forever end

And the beginning of ultimate peace

A last person to befriend.
