Broken Thoughts of a Misanthropist

Broken Thoughts of a Misanthropist

A Poem by Brian Csati

Through the keyhole I saw you stare,

With a cataract eye,

Your gaze was unaware.

The possibility of a deformity,

And a callused herd conformity.

Do take with you a shallow dream,

Of an ugly, impotent deity,

Who had made the image of you,

With broken limbs and a shattered wrist.

Do you wish?

Once upon a lie,

You once denied the earth.

It whispered to me through false teeth,

A swollen mouth, and split lips.

Accept your gift with a granted wish,

As the fatal touch meets a lethal kiss.

Through the keyhole,

You were unaware.

Of a cataract vision in a world of despair.
