Body Parts

A Poem by Bria Si'mone
"

Homage to an absentee father

"

Whenever i think of you, my heart becomes a sponge submerged in the tears you bring and gets heavy like the baggage you provide. When i think of you, there is no end to the mental anguish. My life with you passes before my very eyes. A mental image of the good, the bad, and the ugly. I want to cast you off but my love for you runs too deep. You're in my blood, in my face. I see you in my toes, toes that look like yours. They lead to my legs, legs you gave me... My daddy's legs. My daddy used his legs to leave me. I used to use them to run to him. Now i use them to run from the tears he brings to my heart. A dry sponge is a happy sponge, but this sponge is drentched. Drentched in the love and the pain i feel for you. I pray you realize this before this world expires. Because i'd love to use my daddy's legs to run to you once more
