~To Daddy~

To someone who meant a lot to me...

For fourteen years, I had no father in my life,

It ws just me and mom,

Until one day I walked into the door from school,

There you were standing there,

With a big smile and a big hug for me,

With your strong spirit there to guide me.

 

When you took vows with mom,

You've took me as a daughter of your own,

You've shown me to have tough skin and to be disciplined,

As well as teaching me to overcome hardship,

And know how to trust God while living,

With your strong spirit there to guide me.

 

There are definitely days were we're not very talkative,

There are days where I didn't want to be in your presence,

There are days where you, mom and I would fall apart as a family,

But overall with our anger disputes aside,

Your love for me and mom was still there,

With your strong spirit there to guide me.

 

Now came September in the year of 2009,

All the pressure and your years in the military was crushing your heart,

The your body falls the concrete ground,

After a few days, I came in with mom to the room where had laid there sedated,

With tears in my eyes, I kissed your temple and said "I love you"  for the last time,

Left you the rosary bracelet for one last reminder of me and walked out the room,

With your strong spirit there to guide me.

 

Now came that Saturday on the 12th,

God had called you home,

That next Sunday you laid in your casket in your dress blues,

I gave you one last kiss on your iced-cold temple,

Before they cover you with the American flag,

After you left the Earth,

It became real quiet at the house, especially with mom,

You were my disciplinary, my guidance, and my guardian angel,

As your military brat, I'm still going to over any obstacle with a smile on my face,

With your strong spirit STILL there to guide me.
